The Melbourne School District welcomes Carrie Irvin to the faculty of Melbourne Elementary School.  Mrs. Irvin teaches 6th grade and is certified in mid-level Math, Science, and Algebra 1. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from the Arkansas State University, Jonesboro.

Carrie worked in childcare for a total of nine years before becoming a teacher. After four years working in the childcare field, she decided to go back to college and pursue a degree in education. She continued to work in childcare during the five years it took her to earn her degree, graduating May 2015. Carrie did her student teaching at Melbourne Elementary last year.

Mrs. Irvin is married to James Irvin and they have a ten year old daughter named Ashlyn. They enjoy the outdoors and are big Razorback and Cardinal fans. Carrie loves to read and says, “it’s hard to pick a favorite. You can’t go wrong with John Grisham or Nicolas sparks though.”

Her favorite quote, “It takes daring to grow up and become who you really are.”  -E. E. Cummings

Favorite part about teaching, “My favorite part of teaching is getting to be a part in so many lives.”

Hardest part about teaching, “The hardest part about teaching is dealing with issues that I cannot change.”

Educational philosophy, “Everyone has something that they can bring to the table.  It is my job to figure out what that is and how to utilize it.”
